Plumbing PTFE tape, also known as plumber's or Teflon tape, is a thin film of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) used to seal threaded pipe joints. It acts as both a sealant and a lubricant, making it easier to tighten and unscrew pipe fittings and preventing leaks where water or gas can escape through the threads. It comes on a spool and is wrapped around the male threads before tightening the fitting.
Uppercross PTFE plumbers tape is a non-hardening thread-sealing tape for compatible threaded plumbing joints. Wrapped around the male thread before assembly, the tape fills small clearances between mating threads to support a tighter seal.
The PTFE material also helps reduce the risk of thread seizure during future disassembly and can help isolate dissimilar metals at threaded joints.
