Plumbing PTFE tape, also known as plumber's or Teflon tape, is a thin film of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) used to seal threaded pipe joints. It comes on a spool and is wrapped around the male threads before tightening the fitting.

How it works
Sealing: The tape fills the small gaps and imperfections in the threads, creating a seal to prevent leaks.
Lubricating: It reduces friction, allowing you to tighten the fitting more securely without seizing. This also makes it easier to unscrew the fitting later.
Common uses
Sealing joints on shower arms, shower heads, and tub spouts.
Connecting pipes to valves and other fittings.
Both plumbing and gas line installations.
Types and selection
Standard White: Used for general plumbing applications, including potable water lines.
Yellow: Specifically designed for gas lines and is thicker for added safety.
Other colors: Some manufacturers may use different colors for specific applications or purposes.
